Marketing is the process of identifying, anticipating, and satisfying customer needs profitably. For eco-entrepreneurs, marketing also means communicating genuine environmental values and building trust with sustainability-conscious consumers. This module covers the fundamentals of marketing strategy, the marketing mix, and digital marketing tools.

The Marketing Mix — 4Ps

The four pillars of your marketing strategy

Product

The goods or services you offer to meet customer needs. For eco-entrepreneurs, this includes the sustainability features, quality, design, branding, packaging, and lifecycle of the product.

Key Questions to Ask:

  • ?What problem does your product solve?
  • ?What features differentiate it from competitors?
  • ?How sustainable is the production process?
  • ?What is the product lifecycle and end-of-life plan?

Eco-Entrepreneur Strategies:

  • Eco-design and circular product development
  • Sustainable packaging and materials
  • Product certifications (organic, fair trade, B Corp)
  • Transparent supply chain storytelling

Course Content

Marketing encompasses all activities a company undertakes to attract customers and maintain relationships with them. The marketing process involves market research, segmentation, targeting, positioning, and the development of a marketing mix. For eco-entrepreneurs, marketing must authentically communicate environmental values — greenwashing (false or exaggerated environmental claims) can severely damage brand reputation.
